An Essex man won $100,000 on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket purchased at a Royal Farms convenience store in White Marsh.
According to Lottery officials, the longtime player was playing Racetrax at the Royal Farms located at 11905 Markey Way when he decided to purchase a $10 scratch-off ticket between races. He discovered the $100,000 prize on the final number he scratched.
The winner claimed his prize on October 28 at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He previously won approximately $12,000 playing Racetrax but said this was his largest Lottery prize.
The man, who has worked as a mechanic for more than 50 years, plans to use his winnings to pay bills and make a down payment on a truck. He also said he intends to keep the win private.
Royal Farms will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
