The Montgomery County Council’s Economic Development (ECON) Committee will meet on Thursday, November 5, at 9:30 a.m. to continue reviewing the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation’s (MCEDC) proposed strategic plan.
The plan, titled “Montgomery 2030: A New Era of Economic Growth and Opportunity,” would establish the county’s economic development strategy from 2027 through 2030, focusing on business growth, workforce talent, economic opportunities and improving residents’ quality of life.
Thursday’s meeting will be the committee’s second review of the proposed plan. Members will examine requested revisions discussed during the committee’s initial meeting on October 12.
The ECON Committee includes Chair and Council President Natali Fani-González, Council Vice President Marilyn Balcombe and Councilmembers Evan Glass and Laurie-Anne Sayles.
Under county law, MCEDC is responsible for preparing the strategic plan. The County Executive must submit comments on the draft by January 15, 2027, and the County Council must adopt the final plan by March 15, 2027.
