According to the Maryland Lottery, two Montgomery County coworkers have claimed a $50,000 Powerball prize after purchasing a winning ticket in Bethesda last month.
The coworkers have been buying Powerball tickets together for years, taking turns purchasing tickets and splitting the cost to ensure they have an entry for every drawing.
Their ticket for the October 7 drawing won $50,000, although one of the winners said he had to check the results multiple times before believing it.
The pair visited Maryland Lottery headquarters on November 4 to claim their prize. They plan to split the winnings, with plans including purchasing a new vehicle, adding to savings and sharing some of the money with family and church.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shuvam Beer & Wine, located at 10313 Westlake Drive in Bethesda.
