Permanent signage has been installed at Gina’s Cucina Siciliana, an upcoming Sicilian restaurant located at 640 Center Point Way in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands.
The restaurant is taking over the former Cinco de Mayo space, which closed in September 2025. Gina’s Cucina Siciliana had its liquor license hearing with Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) last month. An opening date has not yet been announced.
Gina’s Cucina Siciliana will focus on recipes originating from the Sicilian regions of Agrigento and Messina, along with dishes influenced by other parts of Sicily. The restaurant was inspired by family recipes passed down by Gina, a Sicilian mother and grandmother who died in 2014. Her son began preparing more than 45 of her recipes to help his daughters connect with their grandmother, eventually developing the concept for the restaurant. The menu is expected to include arancini, spiedini, pasta puttanesca, chicken marsala, chicken piccata, Sicilian pizza, focaccia and a variety of pasta dishes.
The restaurant’s leadership team includes founder and CEO Dan Mollura, Gina’s son and a physician who previously worked as a radiologist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda. Mollura also founded RAD-AID International, a global health nonprofit he led for 18 years. Chief Operating Officer Amulya Puttaraju is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and has restaurant and hospitality management experience throughout the DMV area. She will oversee front-of-house operations and the guest experience. Culinary Director Jeffrey Webb brings more than 25 years of experience as a chef and restaurant operator, including culinary training in Italy. Webb will oversee kitchen operations and assist with staff training and menu development.
