Emergency crews responded to a large water main break on East West Hwy near Maple Ave in Bethesda on Sunday afternoon.
MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer reported that the break caused extensive flooding, affecting multiple homes with basement water damage and lowering water pressure in the area.
WSSC crews have shut off water to a stub line serving nine homes, and repairs are expected to continue through the evening, with some lanes blocked on East West Hwy.
We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.
