In September, we reported that the team behind popular local spots like Melina, Julii, Cava Mezze, and the soon-to-open Bouboulina would be taking over the former Renato’s restaurant space at 10120 River Rd in the Potomac Village Shopping Center.
According to commercial real estate group JLL, the new concept will offer “Italian-inspired cuisine in the heart of Potomac.” Led by Chef Aris Tsekouras, who also oversees Julii, Melina, and Bouboulina, the menu will feature fresh crudo, classic Italian meatballs, fried mushroom polenta, handmade pastas, burrata, and the ever-popular chicken parmesan,” according to Ted Xenohristos, Founder & Chief Concept Officer, Cava. After learning the location was available, the group partnered with Zuckerman Gravely Development to secure the lease.
“As someone from this community, I understand what Renato’s meant to Potomac, and we’re committed to honoring that legacy while continuing to lead in hospitality,” said co-founder Ike Grigoropoulos. His partner, Ted Xenohristos, who grew up delivering pizzas for his uncle’s nearby restaurant, Tally Ho, added, “I’m excited for Executive Chef Aris Tsekouras to showcase his incredible culinary talents to a community I’ve been connected to for years.”
The restaurant is currently scheduled to open in 2025 and will be the group’s sixth full-service location in Montgomery County, joining Cava Mezze (Olney and Rockville), Julii (Pike & Rose), Melina (Pike & Rose), and Bouboulina (coming soon to Pike & Rose).
