La Paz to Close After 46 Years in Downtown Frederick

La Paz, located at 51 South Market Street in Downtown Frederick, has announced it will close its doors on Sunday, December 8, after 46 years in business. A Frederick staple since 1978, the restaurant is known for its margaritas and outside patio seating along the Carroll Creek. La Paz will be replaced by a new concept set to open in 2025.|

The restaurant issued the following on Thursday: “Since April 4, 1978, La Paz has been a staple in Downtown Frederick. We’ve been a part of celebrations and gatherings of all kinds, and so many of you have become family. We’ve served the Frederick community well over a million margaritas, and have had over one thousand employees throughout the years. We are so thankful and proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of your lives for so long.

Since it was first reported that La Paz was on the market, we know that everyone has been curious about the status of the sale. We can now share that we have an official signed contract for the sale of 51 South Market Street, the home of La Paz for 18 of our 46 years, and the place where La Paz will serve its final margarita.

Our final day in business will be Sunday, December 8. A restaurant with a new concept will open in the location in 2025. This time is certainly bitter sweet for us, but we are excited for what the future holds. The journey continues, and the best is yet to come.”
