Officer Rescued from Burning Cruiser After Serious Collision

A Montgomery County police officer and another driver sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle collision on December 20, 2024, near Snouffer School Road and Flower Hill Way, with the officer rescued from a burning police cruiser.

According to MCPD, “At approximately 4:26 p.m., the Emergency Communication Center (ECC) received notification of a two-vehicle collision involving a Montgomery County police cruiser that was enroute to an emergency call in the 6th District. Moments after receiving notification that the police cruiser was on fire with the officer trapped inside, a responding officer arrived and was able to extinguish the fire and free the officer from the vehicle.

The officer has been transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The adult driver of the second vehicle has been transported with non-life-threating injuries to an area hospital. This is an active and ongoing investigation.”
