Man Arrested After Box Cutter Assault and Attempted Truck Theft at Aspen Hill Giant

An adult male suspect was arrested after assaulting a truck driver with a box cutter, smashing the vehicle’s window, and attempting to steal the truck outside the Aspen Hill Giant; the victim sustained minor injuries and escaped.


According to the Montgomery County Police (MD) 4th District-Wheaton-Glenmont, “Earlier today, at around 1:45PM, 4th District Patrol officers responded to a reported assault at the Giant grocery store in Aspen Hill. An adult male suspect approached a victim seated in a large box truck parked in front of the store. The suspect climbed onto the truck step, began yelling at the victim, smashed the window, and attacked him with a box cutter.

The victim sustained minor injuries but managed to escape the truck with the keys. The suspect then entered the vehicle and attempted to put it in gear. Officers quickly located the suspect nearby and took him into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and charged with multiple offenses.”
