Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, to provide early service for the Cherry Blossom 10-Mile race, with all lines running normal service and additional guidance for accessing the race start and finish locations.
Per the news release: “Metrorail will open two hours early at 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, to get Cherry Blossom 10-Mile runners and spectators to the race on time for the 7:30 a.m. start. All lines will run normal service, with trains arriving approximately every four minutes at stations served by multiple lines downtown.
Metro is committed to delivering safe, reliable service to support the region by providing extended hours for large-scale public events. The race draws more than 17,000 runners, in addition to thousands more who come to watch.
