During a traffic stop in the Briggs Chaney/Castle Boulevard area of Silver Spring, MCPD’s 3rd District Community Action Team arrested a driver with an active warrant and recovered a stolen loaded handgun, while a passenger was also arrested after an AR-style pistol with 30-round magazines was found.
According to MCPD 3rd District Commander Jason Cokinos, “Last night your @mcpnews 3rd District Community Action Team (DCAT) conducted a traffic stop during proactive criminal enforcement operations in the Briggs Chaney / Castle Blvd area of Silver Spring. The driver had an active arrest warrant. Upon arrest, a loaded handgun (reported stolen) was found in the subject’s waistband.
A passenger was also arrested after an AR style pistol was located with 30 round magazines. Very dangerous weapon.
We can save lives and injuries by getting these guns off the street before they are used.”
Another traffic stop, 2 illegal guns seized + 2 arrests = a safer community.
