On Saturday, August 30, a fire engulfed a two-story home on the 2300 block of Cranberry Terrace in Aspen Hill, displacing a family of five, including two adults, three children, and one pet.
According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS), the call came in at 6:19 p.m. when flames were already visible on the first and second floors. Fortunately, no one was home at the time of the fire.
Firefighters arrived promptly, conducted a thorough search, and extinguished the blaze. During their efforts, they rescued an adult dog from the home, successfully resuscitated it, and transported it to a local animal hospital for further care. The origin and cause of the fire have been ruled accidental but remain undetermined, starting in a void space between the basement ceiling and the first floor. Damage is estimated at approximately $1 million, including $700,000 to the structure and $300,000 in contents.
