“A Maryland Lottery scratch-off fan from Washington, D.C., claimed the first $50,000 top prize on the new JURASSIC PARK scratch-off game. Good fortune shown on the player late in September when she stopped at a Bethesda retailer on her way to work.

The scratch-off fan dropped in at Crescent Convenience in Bethesda on her way to her housekeeping job and picked up three $5 JURASSIC PARK tickets because they were new, having gone on sale on Sept. 19. She played them in the store. The laid-back player was surprised to see that she won, but initially thought it was for a lesser amount.
“I thought it was only $50,” she said Oct. 7 when she claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “I was shocked when I gave it to the cashier to scan and he said it was really $50,000.”

The Washington, D.C., resident was excited about her win, but maintained her calm. She put her winning ticket in her wallet and proceeded to work. There she showed a friend who later accompanied her to claim the prize.
“I was more excited than she was,” said the winner’s friend who drove her to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “She was very nonchalant about it.”

The winner said she plans to use her winnings for home improvements. Crescent Convenience at 7475 Wisconsin Avenue receives a bonus of $500 for selling a top prize-winning scratch-off.”
