Ride for Your Life Returns November 16 to Honor Road Traffic Victims

Started in memory of mother and U.S. diplomat Sarah Debbink Langenkamp, Ride for Your Life will return on November 16 as part of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

The annual event brings together 1,000 to 2,000 riders for a bike ride from Freeland Urban Park to the Lincoln Memorial to honor those killed in traffic crashes and advocate for safer streets. The ride was founded by her husband, Dan Langenkamp, who became a leading street safety advocate following her death on River Road in 2022.

This year’s event will feature remarks from Congressman Jamie Raskin, Maryland Delegate Marc Korman, State Senator Sara Love, Montgomery County Councilmembers Andrew Friedson and Evan Glass, and Assistant Secretary of Transportation Joe McAndrew.

Begun after the death of mother and U.S. diplomat Sarah Debbink Langenkamp, Ride for Your Life is a 10-mile slow ride from Downtown Bethesda to the Lincoln Memorial dedicated to creating change on our roadways.

Marking World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, we will rally at the memorial with safe streets leaders and members of Congress to demand better — better infrastructure and better laws — for all those who use our roads.
