Nominations Open for 2026 Women Making History Award in Montgomery County

The Montgomery County Commission for Women and Montgomery Women are accepting nominations for the 2026 Women Making History Award through 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, with nominees required to live or work in the county; high school seniors and college students are eligible, but current elected officials or candidates are not.

Honorees will be recognized during Women’s History Month and at a future reception, with nominations submitted online highlighting leadership, community engagement, inspiration, or support for positive social change.

Per the news release: “The Montgomery County Commission for Women and Montgomery Women are now accepting nominations for the 2026 “Women Making History Award.” The deadline to submit nominations is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5.

Nominees must either reside in Montgomery County or work in the County. High school seniors and college students are also eligible for nomination.

Nominations for elected officials and individuals currently running for office will not be accepted.

This annual award recognizes outstanding women in Montgomery County who make significant contributions to their profession and to the community.

Recipients of the Women Making History Award will be recognized and featured on the County’s social media during Women’s History Month in March and honored at a future reception and panel discussion.

To be eligible, nominees should exemplify one or more of the following:

  • Dedication and unselfish leadership in their professional field.
  • Exceptional civic leadership and community engagement.
  • Inspiration to others through their role as a model of excellence.
  • Support for programs that drive positive social change.

Nominations must be completed online, and forms must be fully completed to be considered. Those submitting nominations are asked not to copy and paste online bios as part of their submissions. Biographies should be limited to no more than three paragraphs. Nominations will not be accepted via mail.
