Surveillance video has been released by Montgomery County police as detectives investigate an armed robbery that occurred around 12:42 a.m. on January 1, 2026, at the Embassy Suites on Democracy Boulevard in Bethesda, where three suspects allegedly forced their way into a hotel room during a New Year’s Eve party, held victims at gunpoint, and stole personal property.
Authorities are asking the public to help identify the suspects and provide information through Crime Solvers, with anonymous tips eligible for a cash reward. The day after the incident occurred, police shared that the incident began when a male suspect entered a hotel room armed with a handgun and attempted to rob multiple occupants. During the confrontation, two adult males inside the room fled what they believed was their safest escape route, a one foot wide ledge. The following update was provided by police on Tuesday:
“At approximately 12:42 a.m., officers from the 2nd District responded to the hotel for the report of an armed robbery.
The investigation has revealed that a female suspect and two male suspects entered the hotel and approached a room where a New Year’s Eve party was taking place. The female suspect knocked on the door, and when the victim opened it, the male suspects, armed with a handgun, forced their way into the room. The suspects ordered the partygoers to the floor and stole personal property before leaving the scene in a dark-colored sedan.
Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage and obtained a description of the suspects.
Suspect one: Black female, heavy-set, in her twenties, wearing a black puffy jacket, a silver sweater, black pants and white shoes
Suspect Two: Black male, in his early twenties, armed with a handgun, with a slim build, wearing dark clothing and a full-face mask
Suspect Three: Black male, between 17 and 23-years-old, heavy-set, wearing dark clothing
