Imagine walking into a Chick-fil-A and seeing burgers, pizza, and bone-in wings on the menu. Now imagine that this place exists in only one location in the entire United States, right near the University of Maryland.
That’s the idea behind Little Blue Menu, Chick-fil-A’s experimental “innovation kitchen” just outside College Park, where the company tests menu items you won’t find at any traditional location. It’s part familiar comfort food, part culinary laboratory — and a must-stop for curious food fans across the region.
Mr. 8 That, an alumni of the University of Maryland, made the drive out to College Park to give this place a try. Mr. 8 That rates every restaurant using two simple categories: price and taste, each scored on a scale of 1-5. Add the two scores together, and if a restaurant reaches a total of 8 or higher, it officially “8 that.”
Mr. 8 That: “One of the first surprises for me was the burger. For a fast food burger, it was surprisingly tender and the mushrooms still had a good bite to them. The Chick-Fil-A pizza had those classic flavors you’d get in the sandwich, but it read a little dry without having a base sauce layer. I think i’d prefer the sandwich if I was sticking to that flavor profile. The chicken wings were large and had a similar texture to the ones you get at a convenience store. The “East Heat” sauce tasted of a teriyaki sauce with a hint of lime in them. The sweet potato tots were nothing to write home about.”
During his visit, Mr. 8 That tried a mushroom swiss burger, a chick-fil-a pizza, sweet potato tots, their classic burger and the east hear bone-in wings. He gave the flavor a 3.5 and the price a 4.1, leading to a final score of 7.6. That means that Little Blue Menu did not 8 that. However, if you consider yourself a chick-fil-a connoisseur, this place is definitely worth checking out just for the experience.
