County Adds New Zero-Fare Ride On Flex Service Area

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has announced it will begin service for Ride On Flex Zone 918 on Monday, February 2, expanding the county’s on-demand, zero-fare shared shuttle network.

The new zone will provide peak-period service to the Ednor, Sandy Spring, Norwood, and Cloverly communities, as well as along New Hampshire Avenue between Route 108 and the White Oak Transit Center, with connections to Ride On bus routes, Flash Bus Rapid Transit on US 29, Metrobus, and Metrorail.

Ride On Flex Zone 918 is an app- or phone-based service with no fixed routes or schedules, allowing riders to reserve trips to and from transit hubs, shopping, schools, jobs, and other destinations. The service also restores transit access for many neighborhoods previously served by Metrobus Z2 and includes accessibility accommodations, with door-to-door service for disabled riders and designated pickup points for others during weekday peak hours.
