Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded Tuesday afternoon to a garage fire at a home in the 11000 block of Brink Road near Wildcat Road in Germantown.
The incident occurred in a non-hydrant area, prompting a large response that included multiple engines, ladder trucks, water tankers, and EMS units.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, the call was dispatched as a garage fire but quickly extended into the house, with crews engaged in an active firefight. Firefighters reported making progress on the blaze, though one firefighter was injured and transported by MCFRS Emergency Medical Services with non life threatening injuries. Two adults, two children, and several cats have been displaced.
In total, approximately 10 engines, five ladder trucks, one heavy rescue, six water tankers, and multiple EMS units responded to the scene. No additional injuries were immediately reported, and the cause of the fire has not yet been released.
