The Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that resulted in the death of 87-year-old Vipa Sankanung of Rockville.
The incident occurred around 2:53 pm on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the intersection of East Jefferson Street and Rollins Avenue, where Rockville City Police responded to a report involving a pedestrian and a 2019 Honda Pilot.
Investigators said Sankanung was crossing Rollins Avenue when she was struck by the vehicle as it turned left from southbound East Jefferson Street. She was taken to a local hospital and later died on November 28, 2025, from injuries related to the collision. Police said the case remains under investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
