A Montgomery County resident recently won $50,000 from a scratch-off ticket purchased at Crystal Rock Exxon, located at 19815 Germantown Road in Germantown.
According to MD Lottery, Zachary Drennan, who lives in Boyds, bought the $10 ticket on January 30 while stopping at the gas station with a coworker. Drennan told lottery officials he plays occasionally and decided to try the new game after a friend recommended it. The pair scratched their tickets at the station, where he discovered the $50,000 prize. He said the win was initially overwhelming and his first priority was securing the ticket and learning how to claim it. Drennan said the prize money will be used to start a fund toward purchasing a future home for his family.
