The Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection will host a community forum on consumer protection from 10:30 am to noon on Thursday, March 5 at the Rockville Memorial Library, 21 Maryland Ave.
The in-person event will feature facilitated discussions aimed at gathering feedback from residents about consumer concerns affecting the County. Topics may include scams, unfair contracts, housing issues, and deceptive business practices. County Executive Marc Elrich said the forum is intended to help officials hear directly from residents so the County can strengthen enforcement, improve education efforts, and address emerging issues before they cause widespread harm.
The forum, held during National Consumer Protection Week, will include a brief overview of consumer protection, large and small group discussions, opportunities for participants to share experiences and identify barriers, and a summary of key themes with next steps from the Office of Consumer Protection. According to OCP Director Eric Friedman, input gathered will help shape future outreach, education, and policy efforts. Space is limited and advance registration is required by Monday, March 2. Residents with questions can contact Maurice Valentine by email or phone, and general consumer complaints may be filed through the Office of Consumer Protection by phone or online.
