Chicken Basket, located at 30 N. Summit Ave. in Olde Towne Gaithersburg, has expanded with a new carryout and delivery location at Takoma Eats, 6120 Kansas Ave NW in Washington, DC.
Last year, Chicken Basket was named by Tasting Table as one of the best hole in the wall spots for fried chicken in the United States. The business also received similar recognition from Cheapism in 2024.
Originally opened in 1978, the restaurant serves fried chicken, wings, subs, gyros, salads, wraps, kabobs, burgers, and seafood. Chicken Basket closed in April 2019 following a fire and reopened in 2023. The restaurant marked its 47th anniversary in October 2025.
