Montgomery County Government and the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine have launched the HJF Innovation Labs at Montgomery County, a new biotech incubator located at HJF’s offices in Bethesda.
The facility is designed to support startups and small companies developing dual-use medical technologies for both military and civilian applications. According to the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation, the lab space addresses demand for smaller-scale facilities with shared equipment and support services, while helping emerging companies navigate operational and financial challenges associated with military medical product development. The program will host a Pitch Showcase and Networking event on April 14 featuring four biomedical startup founders seeking residency in the new labs.
The HJF Innovation Labs join Montgomery County’s existing network of Business Innovation Centers in Rockville, Silver Spring, and Germantown, including a Rockville-based center focused on artificial intelligence. County officials said the opening reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen the local life sciences and startup ecosystem. The launch comes during the same week the Montgomery County Council approved the Viva White Oak Tax Increment Financing proposal, a large mixed-use development project expected to further expand the County’s biohealth and research presence.
