The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon in the 18400 block of Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village.
According to police, officers were conducting proactive patrol in the area near Montgomery Village Plaza on Contour Road following multiple community complaints when they encountered a suspect and attempted to make a stop. Police said the suspect fled into a nearby apartment complex, where he allegedly fired a gun at officers. An officer returned fire, striking the suspect. Officers then rendered first aid before the individual was transported to an area hospital with injuries to the upper torso and leg. The adult male is in stable condition and a firearm was recovered at the scene.
The shooting occurred within the apartment complex, and no additional injuries have been reported. As is standard protocol, the involved officers will be placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues. Police say more information will be released as it becomes available.
