Maryland Announces $5.2 Million Investment to Expand Job Training and Placement

Governor Wes Moore announced more than $5.2 million in awards through the EARN Maryland program to support workforce training, job placement, and economic growth across the state.

The funding is expected to help more than 2,000 Marylanders access training and credentials, connect nearly 1,000 individuals to jobs in high-demand fields such as healthcare and information technology, and provide upskilling opportunities for more than 1,100 current workers. The program emphasizes industry-led partnerships that align training with employer needs and has generated an estimated $19 in economic impact for every $1 invested.

The funding will support a range of organizations, including community colleges, workforce development boards, and nonprofits, which will partner with employers to deliver targeted training programs. Investments include $1.9 million for healthcare and $1.1 million for IT-related fields, with additional support for sectors such as clean energy, manufacturing, hospitality, and biotechnology. The program continues to expand under the Moore-Miller Administration, with nearly 6,000 participants trained and more than 4,000 placed into jobs, supported by $35 million in funding to date and continued annual funding of $15.3 million in the state’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget.
