The Gaithersburg Book Festival returns for its 17th year on May 16. Recognized as one of the nation’s leading literary gatherings, the festival will feature more than 100 best-selling and award-winning authors participating in talks and panel discussions.
Ahead of the event, organizers have issued a warning about fraudulent emails targeting participants and authors. The messages, which may appear to come from city officials or festival representatives, falsely request participation fees. Festival officials emphasize that featured authors are not charged fees and that the organization does not request payments via email.
Attendees and participants are advised to verify that official communications come from “@gaithersburgmd.gov” email addresses and to avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing personal or financial information. Suspected scam emails should be reported to festival organizers and deleted.
More information about the festival, including participation details, is available on its official website.
