A former guitarist for the Baltimore hardcore band Turnstile has been indicted on an upgraded charge of attempted first-degree murder, according to reporting by The Baltimore Banner.
Brady O’Brien Ebert, 33, of Silver Spring, had previously been charged with attempted second-degree murder, which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. Ebert has maintained his innocence, stating that surveillance video will exonerate him.
According to Montgomery County Police, Ebert was taken into custody on March 31 in connection with a March 29 hit-and-run in the 15000 block of Timberlake Drive in Burtonsville. Officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded around 4:41pm for a reported collision. Investigators say Ebert had been involved in an argument with his 78-year-old neighbor in the neighbor’s driveway. During the incident, and for reasons still under investigation, Ebert allegedly struck the victim with his 2001 Buick and fled the scene without calling 911 or providing aid.
The victim was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, including a broken leg. Police later located Ebert’s vehicle unoccupied in the 15000 block of Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville with front-end damage. The vehicle was towed for evidence processing, and surveillance footage from the area captured the collision, according to investigators.|
