Lt. Patrick Kepp Competes in Sled Hockey Tournament At Rockville Ice Arena

Lt. Patrick Kepp competed over the weekend in the USA Warriors Sled Hockey Tournament at Rockville Ice Arena, joining veterans from across the country for the three-day event focused on competition, camaraderie, and healing through hockey.

The annual tournament featured round robin games on Friday and Saturday followed by championship matchups on Sunday, with teams competing for the USA Warriors Challenge Cup. Organizers say the tournament is designed to support veterans and foster connections through sled hockey.

Kepp lost both of his legs in 2023 when he was struck by a speeding repeat offender while on duty with the Montgomery County Department of Police. In October 2025, Maryland enacted the Sergeant Patrick Kepp Act, legislation named in his honor that strengthened penalties for reckless, negligent, and aggressive driving. The law made driving 30 mph or more over the speed limit an arrestable reckless driving offense and increased penalties tied to dangerous driving behavior.
