K-Wave Announces Postponement of Rockville Grand Opening

K-Wave has announced that its planned grand opening in Rockville has been postponed as the business continues waiting for required county permits and approvals.

The fast-growing K-Pop retailer had previously planned to open its new location at 5534 Randolph Road in the Montrose Shopping Center on May 30. However, in a statement shared on social media, the business said it has not yet received the necessary county clearance despite repeated attempts to secure answers. K-Wave described the delay as “completely out of our hands” and apologized to customers who had been looking forward to the opening celebration.

Permanent signage remains up at the upcoming store, which will become K-Wave’s first Maryland location and the company’s second brick-and-mortar store overall following the opening of its Centreville, Virginia location in late 2024. As previously reported, the nearly 3,000-square-foot store is expected to feature K-Pop merchandise, K-beauty products, stationery, exclusive items, in-store events, claw machines, gachapon, DIY deco stations, and products created by local artists and K-Pop fans. K-Wave said it plans to announce a new grand opening date as soon as it receives final approval from the county.
