Chowhound has just released its list of “The Hands Down Best Bagel Shop In Every US State, According to Reviews,” with Neal’s Bagels taking the top spot for Maryland.
Located at 113 Commerce Square Place in Gaithersburg, Neal’s Bagels has been a Montgomery County staple for decades. The business relocated to its current Kentlands location in 2023 after operating for many years in the Potomac Valley Shopping Center in Gaithersburg. The Jewish deli has served the community for approximately 30 years and previously operated under the name Bagels Deluxe.
Neal’s is known for its extensive selection of freshly baked bagels, offering more than 20 varieties including plain, everything, sesame, onion, pumpernickel, cinnamon raisin, jalapeño cheddar, chocolate chip, and its colorful rainbow bagels. Customers can pair their bagels with a wide variety of spreads, from classic cream cheese and lox spread to flavored options such as chive, veggie, walnut raisin, olive, and jalapeño.
In addition to bagels, the deli serves a full menu of breakfast and lunch favorites. Popular offerings include omelets, pancakes, avocado toast, egg sandwiches, Nova lox and cream cheese, whitefish salad, corned beef, pastrami, Reubens, turkey, roast beef, and other overstuffed deli sandwiches. Traditional Jewish deli specialties, pastries, black and white cookies, crumb cake, knishes, and other baked goods round out the menu.
