Montgomery County to Raise Pride Flag at Annual Ceremony

Montgomery County officials will kick off Pride Month with the County’s eighth annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony at 9 am on Thursday, June 4, at Veterans Memorial Plaza in Rockville. The event, hosted by County Executive Marc Elrich and Councilmember Evan Glass, is open to the public and will celebrate the County’s LGBTQ+ community.

Featured speakers include transgender advocate Karen Holmes and Valeria Carranza, senior director of government relations for MomsRising. Councilmembers, state officials, and local LGBTQ+ leaders are also expected to participate in the ceremony.

Prior to the flag raising, speakers and community leaders will arrive aboard the Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s “#RideWithPride” Ride On bus, which is wrapped in the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride Flag design. The ceremony will take place outside the Leggett Executive Office Building at 101 Monroe Street, with the event moving indoors in the event of rain.
