A Rockville man is celebrating a $50,000 Maryland Lottery win after purchasing a winning scratch-off ticket at a convenience store in Greenbelt.
The longtime lottery player claimed the prize on June 1 after discovering he had won one of the game’s top instant-win prizes. The winner told Lottery officials he has collected numerous prizes over the years, including several in the $1,000 range, but said the $50,000 prize immediately caught his attention. After scratching the ticket, he shared the news with his wife, who initially didn’t believe him.
The winning ticket was purchased at Centerway Mini Mart in Greenbelt. The winner said he plans to use the money to improve his family’s financial situation.
