Montgomery County recently celebrated the first recipients of its new Early Care and Education Facility Loan Program, an initiative designed to help child care providers expand, renovate, and improve their facilities.
Launched in October 2025, the program provides forgivable and zero-interest loans to support child care centers and family child care providers across the County.
The program received more than 100 applications during its first funding cycle, with 19 projects selected for a total of $2.268 million in funding. County officials estimate the investments will help create 178 new licensed child care openings, primarily in areas facing shortages of child care options. The selected projects include both family child care providers and child care centers focused on expanding access to high-quality care for local families.
