The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Montgomery County and much of the Washington region until 9 p.m. Monday.
Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is urging residents to remain weather aware and monitor forecasts throughout the evening. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail and dangerous lightning.
Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during storms and be prepared to seek shelter if warnings are issued.
