Montgomery College has officially launched its new Collective Impact Institute, a countywide initiative designed to bring together leaders from education, business, government, philanthropy and nonprofit organizations to address complex community challenges and expand economic opportunity.
The institute was unveiled during a June 17 event at the College’s Bioscience Education Center in Germantown, where approximately 70 community leaders gathered to mark the transition of collective impact work from Montgomery Moving Forward to Montgomery College. The new institute will serve as a hub for partnership development, employer engagement, systems alignment and collaborative innovation aimed at improving outcomes for Montgomery County residents.
Led by inaugural director Ian Gordon, the Collective Impact Institute will spend its first year focused on listening, relationship-building and stakeholder engagement to identify community priorities and shape future initiatives. The institute builds on more than a decade of work by Montgomery Moving Forward, which helped launch efforts including WorkSource Montgomery, the Children’s Opportunity Alliance and the Maryland Early Care and Education Coalition.
