The Montgomery County community is coming together to support the family of 16-year-old Cephas Nnamdi, a Winston Churchill High School honors student who died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 2. A fundraiser has been launched to help his family with funeral and memorial expenses, as well as other immediate financial needs as they navigate the loss.
Cephas, who had just completed his junior year at the Bethesda school, was known as a dedicated student and accomplished athlete who played football, rugby and competed in track. Friends and loved ones described him as hardworking, ambitious and deeply caring. He had planned to spend the summer working at a local ice rink while pursuing entrepreneurial projects before beginning his senior year.
The fundraiser aims to raise $25,000 to support his parents, Bridget and Anthony Nnamdi, along with his siblings, Collins, Catherine and Davina. Organizers say the donations will help ease the financial burden on the family, allowing them to focus on grieving and healing in the weeks ahead. They are also encouraging those who cannot donate to share the fundraiser with others in the community.
