Montgomery County has received 38 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards for 2026, recognizing innovative government programs that improve public services and enhance residents’ quality of life.
The annual awards, presented since 1970, honor effective county initiatives from across the country. County Executive Marc Elrich said the recognition reflects the creativity and dedication of County employees, who continue to develop new ways to deliver services and address community needs.
The awards span a wide range of County departments, highlighting programs focused on public health, transportation, recreation, environmental stewardship, technology, permitting, libraries, workforce development, and public safety. Alcohol Beverage Services led all departments with six awards, tied with the Department of Recreation, while the Department of Health and Human Services and Technology and Enterprise Business Solutions also received multiple honors.
Other recognized departments included the Department of Transportation, Montgomery County Public Libraries, the Department of Permitting Services, the Office of Human Resources, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Office of Consumer Protection, the Department of General Services, the Commission for Women, and the Office of Procurement and Department of Finance.
