This spot is one of the Top BBQ spots outside of Texas. And that’s not coming from me, that’s coming from Texas Monthly, an authority on all things barbeque.
Located in Riverdale, MD, 2Fifty BBQ has earned a reputation as one of the DMV’s premier barbecue destinations, drawing long lines for its Central Texas-style smoked meats. The restaurant has also earned national recognition, including a Michelin Bib Gourmand, helping put Maryland’s barbecue scene on the map. For barbecue lovers across the DMV, this is one stop that’s become much more than just another smokehouse, more so, what other restaurants are compared against.
Mr. 8 That drove out to Riverdale, MD to check out the hype that is 2Fifty BBQ. Mr. 8 That rates every restaurant using two simple categories: price and taste, each scored on a scale of 1-5. Add the two scores together, and if a restaurant reaches a total of 8 or higher, it officially “8 that.”
Mr. 8 That: “We had to get the Dino Rib, and it did not disappoint. HUGE portion, with a beautifully pepper-seasoned bark and a fatty, tender piece of beef rib that didn’t even need the sauce. I would come back just for that. The spicy cheddar sausage had that beautiful snap and had pockets of cheese on the inside that kept the sausage moist and every bite interesting. The potato salad side was the perfect picnic side; slightly sweet and tangy. The mac and cheese was the only item that left something to be desired. It was creamy, but lacked the flavor punch of a top-tier mac and cheese.”
During his visit, Mr. 8 That tried The Beef Dino Rib, the Wagyu Brisket Sandwich, The Spicy Cheddar Sausage, the Potato Salad and the Mac and Cheese. He gave the flavor a 4.6 and the price a 4.5, leading to a final score of 9.1. This means that 2Fifty BBQ definitely 8 that.
