Call Your Mother Deli is officially returning to Bethesda on Monday, August 3, when the popular D.C.-based “Jew-ish” deli opens its new permanent location at 4828 St. Elmo Ave.
The new restaurant occupies the former Hardwood Artisans space in downtown Bethesda, which was also previously home to Design Within Reach and Johnny Rockets. It marks the brand’s return to Bethesda after relocating its popular “Lil’ Deli” pink trolley from Old Georgetown Road to Riverdale Park last year following a five-year run.
Founded by husband-and-wife duo Andrew Dana and Chef Daniela Moreira, Call Your Mother has grown from a farmers market bagel stand into a regional favorite with locations across Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Colorado and Illinois. The restaurant has earned national recognition, including being named one of Eater’s Best New Restaurants in America.
Guests can expect the full Call Your Mother experience, including signature bagel sandwiches such as the Jetski, DelRay Club and Sun City, along with scratch-made babka muffins, white cookies, locally roasted coffee and seasonal drinks like the Piña Colada Iced Matcha Latte. The restaurant will also offer catering for everything from office breakfasts to family gatherings.
“Bethesda has always felt like home for us,” said co-founder Andrew Dana. “It’s a community where people care deeply about supporting local businesses. We received so much love the first go round that we knew we needed a bigger space and we’re so excited to welcome folks back and meet new friends.”

The new Bethesda restaurant is designed as a colorful, neighborhood gathering place where guests can stop in for breakfast, coffee or lunch, bringing the brand’s signature vibrant atmosphere back to downtown Bethesda.
