More than 35 years after the remains of a young woman were discovered along Interstate 270 in Frederick County, investigators are once again asking for the public’s help in identifying her.
According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the unidentified female was found on July 31, 1991, at the bottom of an embankment off I-270 near Baker Valley Hill Road in Frederick. Based on the condition of her remains, investigators believe she had been deceased for several weeks before she was discovered.
The young woman is believed to have been between 16 and 21 years old with shoulder-length brown hair. She was wearing a light-colored tank top and a blue denim “Cap Ferrat” brand skort with a garter waistband. Her toenails were painted pink.
She was also wearing several pieces of jewelry, including an “Advance” digital watch, a gold-plated herringbone necklace, a pink nylon anklet, an Avon silver solitaire ring, a floral-pattern ring, three silver bangle bracelets and a gold Trifari bracelet.
NCMEC has released a forensic facial reconstruction showing what the young woman may have looked like in life in hopes that someone recognizes her.
