A $150,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold at the Harris Teeter in Columbia for Monday night’s drawing, one of two major winning tickets sold in Maryland as the jackpot approaches $1 billion.
The winning ticket was sold at the Harris Teeter at 8620 Guilford Road and matched four of the five white-ball numbers plus the Powerball, earning a base prize of $50,000. The player added the $1 Power Play option, and Monday night’s 3X multiplier increased the prize to $150,000.
Elsewhere in Maryland, a ticket sold at Harvest Fare Supermarket at 2315 Belair Road in Fallston won $1 million after matching all five white-ball numbers, 6, 37, 54, 55 and 64, but missing the Powerball number, 10. The Fallston win marked Maryland’s third $1 million Powerball prize in less than two weeks. A $1 million ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in College Park for the August 1 drawing, while another was sold at a Royal Farms in Odenton for the July 29 drawing. The Odenton prize was claimed Monday by an anonymous Anne Arundel County resident who used the nickname “Powerball Bulldog.”
No ticket nationwide matched all six numbers Monday night, pushing the jackpot for Wednesday, August 12, to an estimated $975 million, with a cash option of $422.3 million. Powerball drawings are held Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights at 10:59 p.m.
