Montgomery County’s Advisory Commission on Policing (ACP) will hold a public forum next month to hear from residents about public safety and the future of policing in the County.
The forum is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Montgomery County Council’s third-floor hearing room in Rockville. No advance registration is required.
During the forum, the Commission will provide an update on its current and future work before holding a listening session. Residents will be invited to share feedback and their vision for public safety in Montgomery County, including thoughts related to the Montgomery County Police Department’s Strategic Plan for 2026-2030.
Residents who cannot attend the meeting can submit feedback through the Commission’s “Submit Your Suggestions” portal.
The Commission was established by the Montgomery County Council in 2019 amid public discussions surrounding policing practices and efforts to increase community involvement in public safety matters. Its role is to advise the Council on policing issues and recommend policies, programs, legislation, best practices and regulations related to policing.
The Commission consists of 13 public voting members and two non-voting, ex-officio members representing the police department and an employee organization.
