An adult woman has died after she and a young child were struck by a vehicle Monday evening near Chapman Avenue and Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville.
Rockville City Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were dispatched to the collision at approximately 8:25 p.m. According to MCFRS chief spokesperson Pete Piringer, a mother and young child were struck, and the vehicle involved slid onto an embankment. Both pedestrians were initially transported to an area trauma center with life-threatening injuries.
According to Montgomery County Police, the woman later died at the hospital. The child was also transported to an area hospital and is now reported to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Montgomery County Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit has been notified and is investigating the fatal collision.
