Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal wrong-way collision that left two people dead Saturday evening on I-270.
At approximately 6:46 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Rockville Barrack responded to southbound I-270 just south of Democracy Boulevard for a reported two-vehicle collision.
According to the preliminary investigation, a Ford Mustang was traveling in the wrong direction on I-270 when it collided head-on with a Toyota sedan.
Two passengers in the Toyota were transported to area hospitals, where both were pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford Mustang was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Information regarding the driver’s condition was not immediately available.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
