Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) will celebrate the grand opening of its newest Liquor & Wine store in Gaithersburg on Thursday, September 10.
The new Flower Hill store is located at 18251 Flower Hill Way and will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:45am, with the store opening to customers at 10am. Elected officials and representatives from the alcohol industry are expected to attend.
Two allocated products will be available exclusively at the Flower Hill location for the grand opening: Michter’s US1 Barrel Strength Sour Mash Whiskey and Weller Special Reserve Wheated Bourbon. The bottles will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last, with customers limited to one allocated bottle total.
The opening celebration will continue through Saturday, September 12, with tastings featuring spirits and local producers. Saturday will also include personalized bottle engraving from Bacardi Limited with purchases of Angel’s Envy Cask Strength and Triple Oak bourbons.
The new location will feature a wide selection of spirits and local products in a smaller, boutique-style setting. Beer and wine offerings will be limited to products made in Maryland.
“The new ABS retail store at Flower Hill will provide customers with an elevated space and a carefully curated assortment of products,” ABS Director Kathie Durbin said. “This new location is designed to reflect our community by showcasing local products and providing dynamic service in a safe and inviting environment.”
The Flower Hill store will be open from 10am to 9pm Monday through Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sundays.
Other tenants at North Pointe at Flower Hill include PJ’s Coffee and Inspire Nail Bar. Plaza Mexico, which is expected to anchor the center with a rooftop restaurant and bar, and Angelo’s Pizza Pasta & Deli are expected to open in 2027.
ABS serves as Montgomery County’s alcohol wholesaler for beer, wine and spirits and operates retail stores throughout the county. The department also oversees alcohol licensing, enforcement and education for more than 1,000 businesses. ABS generates tens of millions of dollars in net income annually, with funds used to help pay down county debt and support services through the general fund.
