Police Identify Gaithersburg Man Killed in Pedestrian Collision

Detectives are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that killed a 61-year-old Gaithersburg man Friday evening.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, 6th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the intersection of North Frederick Avenue and Professional Drive at approximately 8:10pm on Friday, August 28, for a collision involving a pedestrian and a black 2006 BMW 325i.

Police identified the pedestrian as Craig Anthony Budd, 61, of Gaithersburg.

The preliminary investigation indicates Budd was crossing North Frederick Avenue north of the intersection when he was struck by the BMW, which was traveling northbound.

Budd was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the BMW remained at the scene and is cooperating with detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU).
