Lane Closures Begin Tonight at Maryland-D.C. Border

DC Water will temporarily close one lane of Clara Barton Parkway overnight at the Maryland-D.C. border beginning this week as crews conduct emergency repairs to a section of the Potomac Interceptor sewer line.

The lane closures are scheduled between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. and will continue through Friday, September 4. Only one lane will be closed at a time, with traffic maintained in both directions. Drivers should expect short delays and follow signs and directions from flaggers.

Crews will repair approximately 400 feet of pipe using geopolymer, a concrete-like material applied inside the sewer line. DC Water said the section was identified for emergency repairs following inspections of the system.

The work is part of DC Water’s 10-year, $625 million Potomac Interceptor Rehabilitation Project, which is intended to repair and improve aging water and sewer infrastructure.
