Montgomery County is seeking applicants to fill five vacancies on the County’s Domestic Violence Coordinating Council, with applications due September 30.
The openings include one attorney with experience representing victims of domestic violence, three public members with a demonstrated interest in domestic violence issues and one high school student who resides in Montgomery County. At least one of the public members must be a former victim of domestic violence.
The 19-member council coordinates efforts related to domestic violence prevention, intervention, treatment, law enforcement, prosecution and victim advocacy. Members serve three-year terms without compensation, while the student member serves a one-year term.
The council currently meets virtually six times per year on the third Thursday of every other month at 5 p.m., with one annual meeting held at the Family Justice Center in Rockville. Appointments made by the County Executive are subject to confirmation by the Montgomery County Council.
Applications are due September 30 and must include a letter of interest and resume.
