The City of Rockville is inviting community members to help shape “Shared Passage,” an 18-by-25-foot sculpture planned for David Scull Park, during two public workshops in October.
CJRDesign will be in Rockville from October 7-9 as the sculpture moves into its final design phase. Community feedback will help guide the arrangement of the sculpture’s colorful acrylic panels and arches, as well as a potential solar lighting option.
The workshops will be held from 6-8pm Wednesday, October 7, at the Pump House and from 6-8pm Thursday, October 8, at Rockville Housing Enterprises. Pizza and beverages will be provided, and space is limited.
The sculpture will eventually be installed at the entrance to the 4.1-acre David Scull Park to welcome and engage visitors. CJRDesign will also visit Maryvale Elementary School for assemblies on October 8 and 9.
Rockville is also offering public art walking tours in The Square at Rockville Town Center at 10am and 2pm on Saturdays, October 3 and 10. Each tour will last about an hour, and registration is required. Elsewhere in the city, “Guiding Light,” a public artwork by Dina Fisher planned for Memory Walk Park, is moving into fabrication. Park preparation is expected to begin in October, with installation anticipated in late October or November.
